College Life

「由於高考成績未如理想，當得悉修畢書院開辦的高級文憑課程後，可銜接本地或海外大學的學士學位課程，便決定報讀。導師在每一個學期均設16至18小時的額外補課時段，即使未能在課堂發問的問題，也可以通過這補課時段，相約導師作小組討論。對於老師們用心的教導，我們衷心感激。

 另外，書院有別於傳統中學的學習模式，著重小組滙報，讓我體會了組員與組員在合作過程中需要互相協調、尊重和接納別人的意見，學會與人相處的技巧，為日後投身社會作好準備。」

The 2-year’s studying at the College gave me a memorable learning experience.  Apart from learning from the professional and experienced lecturers, practical placements gave me a real and unforgettable work experience.  I was able to apply the theories that I have learnt during the practical placements, which also enhanced my understanding towards those theories.  This was a great chance for the student, like me, to know more about tourism and events industry during study, before entering the industry.

All the staff and lecturers of the College were kind and helpful.  The comfortable campus provided me with a favourable study environment.

During the foundation year, as the programme provided us with a broad-based education, we were able to meet students from different programmes and learn many different useful skills. In Year One, the subjects gave us an introduction to the knowledge and skills required by the industry, such as Principles of Management, Sport and Recreation Industry in Hong Kong, Programming and Promotion in Sport and Recreation. We had a lot of fun in these modules. I remembered a module that gave us the chance to plan an activity for our classmates, which we carried out in our school hall. We faced a lot of difficulties during implementation, but when it was over, it really gave us a great sense of achievement.
 

Overall, I like studying in the College very much because it has a grand and new campus in Causeway Bay, and it is like living in a big family.

In the past two years my study at the College has filled my life with colors.  Apart from making friends with classmates and lecturers, the campus is also conveniently located and offers the best environment for us to study.

Studying at the College is a totally different experience compared with the traditional mode of learning.  I missed the time here where I had gained great knowledge and wisdom from books as well as from the lecturers.  The past two years had been crucial to my life as I came to realise my future aspiration and the path I wanted to pursue.

Currently, I am studying an undergraduate programme in International Hospitality Management offered locally by HKU SPACE Centre for International Degree Programmes (CIDP) in collaboration with the University of Surrey (UK).  Upon receipt of the Bachelor’s degreee, I want to pursue a career in the hotel industry and contribute to the society in the future.

I am most impressed by the accounting programmes offered at the College.  A number of the international accounting authorities recognise the graduates’ qualification and allow exemption for a great deal of papers.  It really saves us a lot of time in pursing these qualifications in the future.  Besides, lecturers here are all qualified accountants with a wealth of knowledge and experience on the accounting arena. 

It’s really fun learning at the College and I never regret to spend my 2-year time here.

Keep striving for it! If you are certainly interested in food and nutrition, I am sure choosing this programme would be an important step for you to further pursue either a higher education or a career related to the field.

In the past one year, I enjoyed an enriched school life in the College. A few of interesting projects allowed me to acquire knowledge about regulations on food label, catering service, calculation of nutrition value, etc.. One of these projects allowed us to design, prepare and serve a healthy meal all the way on our own. We needed to involve in every step from procurement to serving.  On top of that, numbers of field studies and seminars allowed me to be more familiar with the catering service, food and nutrition industries. 

"Studying  in the Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management programme, you will never feel disappointed with the knowledge provided by our lecturers. All of our lecturers are experienced in the industry in which they can provide you with the latest trend and the most updated information so that you can also keep pace with the change in the industry. Not only can you get the knowledge, but also practical experiences. In this programme, you can have a chance to work in the industry for 6 months so that you can apply the knowledge learnt into your job. The 6-month job placement has actually provided me a competitive edge when comparing with others, no matter for your further study or career.

「學院的酒店管理培訓中心讓我有機會在模擬的酒店環境中學習，當獲派到半島酒店實習時，較容易適應和掌握工作竅門。實習時到了半島酒店當行政總廚的秘書，有機會認識餐飲、宴會服務和餐單設計等。我喜歡接觸不同人，希望畢業後從事酒店前台和宴會服務工作，帶給客人開心歡樂。」

「當知道自己未獲大學取錄時，我並沒有氣餒，相信自己能找到其他理想的出路。與朋友和老師商量後，參考過他們的意見，我最終報讀了書院的應用社會科學副學士課程。這一年裏，學到的不再單單是理科知識，其中，涵蓋英文、中文、數學及電腦等基礎科目的『通用技能』課程，以及包括科學及科技、社會科學、文化及媒體、藝術、歷史、哲學等不同範疇學科的『通識教育』課程，擴闊了我的眼界，學到更多不同範疇的知識，思考模式亦變得更為多元化。我相信，在書院學習到的知識，對升讀大學或投身社會工作均極有幫助。

除了學習到不同範疇的知識外，書院的學習模式與大學極為相似，讓我能『預早』感受大學的學習模式。書院採用小班教學，使師生之間有更多交流、互動，大大提高同學的學習興趣。另外，不少的小組報告，讓我們學會主動學習外，亦學會與人溝通技巧。由於書院大部份課程均根據大學的模式上課，讓我升讀大學時，比其他同學更易適應大學的學習方式及生活。

 最後，書院設學生發展資源中心及多位學生輔導主任，並定期舉辦有關升學及個人成長的講座和工作坊。這些講座和工作坊非常實用，讓我不論對『從非聯招方法報讀大學』的程序，或是個人成長均有幫助。書院的一切，包括學習模式、課程設計、學習的內容、課堂氣氛、亦師亦友的師生關係、導師的分享、不同類型的工作坊等，一一為我留下美好的回憶。」
