During these two years I have significantly advanced my leadership and personal skills, which can equip me well for the future. The support from lecturers have not only enabled us to overcome academic difficulties, but also consolidated our knowledge of the hotel industry. The challenges in our internship have been very effective learning. I have learnt that you should always remember your goal and never get frustrated easily; do not hesitate to ask for help and stay positive.

Today, I am very grateful that I made a wise decision two years ago. In these two years, I have been consistently impressed with our lecturers’ rich industrial experience as well as their unconditional support and care to every student. Beyond doubt, a 6-month internship was truly a precious experience. My internship as a sales and marketing trainee at The Peninsula Hong Kong, one of the most leading and reputable hotels in the world, not only provided me with a learning opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills learnt from class, but also learned the skills of official website maintenance, online travel agent update and social media monitoring. All these golden learning opportunities help me to test and break through my limits. Having worked closely with teammates and many online travel agents within the industry enhanced my job knowledge and built a strong foundation of my future career development.

It has always been my dream to work in the hospitality industry and thankfully the College provides lot of opportunities for me to learn, enhance and prove myself. Besides, this programme offers an internship for every student and it’s my privilege to work at the front office department in InterContinental Hong Kong. This once-in-a-life-time opportunity not only broadened my horizons, but also enhanced both knowledge and skills for my future career. I believe wrong choices might bring us to the right places. This is why sometimes we have to loose ourselves in order to find ourselves. It is never too late to persue our dreams.

Since my public examination results were not outstanding, I decided to study the Higher Diploma programme and hope that it is a chance for me to enter the university. My dream comes true! The programme includes a 6-month placement, which can strengthen my knowledge learnt during classes and let me understand the hotel operation.

I have learnt a lot about the hotel industry through my 2-year study at the College. I gained a lot from lecturers for rich disciplined-related academic knowledge and work experience. They always try their best to help us. The 6-month internship in Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong also enriched my knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry. The things I have learnt were not only limited to textbooks, but also practical working experience in the hotel industry. The 2-year study life at the College is definitely important for my future studies and careers.

“Lecturers are undoubtedly professionals. They were very dedicated to teaching and I had benefited a lot from them. Apart from the knowledge gained from textbooks and lectures, I enjoyed various training in the hotel operation laboratory too. I had the opportunity to acquire practical work experience through a summer placement in a luxury 5-star hotel -- Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. It was absolutely a valuable experience for my future career development in the hotel industry. The Higher Diploma in Hotel Management programme is well-recognised by the local universities and I have already successfully articulated to a bachelor’s degree programme at one of the local Hong Kong universities.
With the valuable knowledge acquired from the Hotel Management programme, I am proud to have the chance to further pursue my studies in the university. Thanks to all the lecturers for taking good care of me and teaching me a lot.”

Studying Hotel Management has long been my goal. The full training at the College has provided me with professional knowledge and a close look at the hospitality industry. All these enjoyable and enlightening courses reinforce and solidify my intense passion in the hotel industry. In my second year, I worked as a trainee in the public relations department in The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. It truly gets me step into the hotel industry and I am glad that I gained and learnt a lot.

“It is nothing exaggerating to say that the Hotel Management programme helps rebuild my confidence and light up my life. I am glad to say that I have indeed made a wise choice. Not only does the College provide us with well-designed educational hardware like the mock-up hotel guest room, computer laboratories, but also we have a lot of experienced lecturers who make studying more interesting, facilitating our personal growth by sharing their rewarding experiences with us.
On top of this, an internship is a great opportunity for students eyeing on the service industry as it manages to put theories learnt in class into practice. In this regard, the College has established a robust network with different well-known hotels like The Peninsula and Ritz-Carlton to serve this purpose. Therefore, I was exposed to many large scaled projects which further broaden my horizons and surely, it paved the way for my further study and career advancement.”

“Being a student of the Higher Diploma in Hotel Management programme, I am greatly impressed by the professional lecturers who have all equipped with interactive teaching methods. With rich industrial experience, they managed to apply theoretical contents into practical real life situations, and always provided us with the latest information about the changes and development in the industry. Programmes were well-structured with a good combination of presentations, projects, assignments and examinations, which prepared us a strong foundation for becoming expert hoteliers in the future.
Apart from attending lectures, we are given the opportunity to utilise our knowledge and skills learnt through a 6-month practical job placement in various 5-star hotels. Working in the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong is certainly an invaluable experience to me to further advance my career in the near future.”

In the past two years my study at the College has filled my life with colors. Apart from making friends with classmates and lecturers, the campus is also conveniently located and offers the best environment for us to study.
Studying at the College is a totally different experience compared with the traditional mode of learning. I missed the time here where I had gained great knowledge and wisdom from books as well as from the lecturers. The past two years had been crucial to my life as I came to realise my future aspiration and the path I wanted to pursue.
Currently, I am studying an undergraduate programme in International Hospitality Management offered locally by HKU SPACE Centre for International Degree Programmes (CIDP) in collaboration with the University of Surrey (UK). Upon receipt of the Bachelor’s degreee, I want to pursue a career in the hotel industry and contribute to the society in the future.
