College Life

 ''If you never try, you'll never know.'' This program provides the learning opportunity for students of different ages. I had a few years of work experience in the healthcare sector, and I found myself interested in nursing during those times. I appreciated that the program lecturers have given me the opportunities to study the Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management at HPSHCC and helped me to achieve my goal. The lecturers are patient and helpful. They taught us the fundamentals of medical science, provided interview skills workshops, and helped students to apply for different degree programmes such as nursing, occupational therapy, and pharmacy, preparing students to pursue their further studies. If you have failed in the public examination, and want to become a medical professional, this is a chance for you to realise your dream.

I enjoyed my time studying in the College. The lecturers were very helpful and kind and schoolmates were friendly as well. I find studying in the College cozy. Without overwhelming us with too many assignments and academic work, the College served as a stepping stone for my university entry. If I were to provide a piece of advice to my fellow schoolmates, don’t forget to try your best in the first year of studying in the College as the academic result of the first year matters the most. Another advice would be enjoying and making the most of your time in the College.

"We should focus our mind on the future, not the past." I once failed to achieve the desired results in the  public examination, and lost the opportunity to study the bachelor degree of my choice. During my  two years of studies in the Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management, the lecturers’ guidance and teaching have helped me strengthen my medical knowledge and laid the foundation for my future work in the medical industry. Finally, I successfully enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme and moved past the regret. I am very grateful for the support and academic advice from the teachers and staff in the College.

The two year of study at HPSHCC was very fulfilling. All the lecturers are very professional and willing to answer questions, which helped us learn a lot about our major. Most of the lecturers are the elites in their industry, so they can impart a lot of practical experience to us. In addition, the College has built Hotel training centers for our practice. For example,  a standard guest room for taking housekeeping lesson. To conclude, by studying here you can improve yourself and prepare for the future.

 “You have to dream before your dreams can come true.” This programme provided me an opportunity to pursue my dream as a social worker. During my time at the College, with the help and support of my classmates, lecturers, and counsellors from Student Development Resource Centre, I was highly motivated to study hard. Eventually, I can now study social work at The University of Hong Kong. I am truly grateful for the high-quality education I received in the College.

Two years ago, I read the students’ sharing from the leaflet and now, I am here writing a student sharing. It is indeed hard to conclude all my gratitude in a hundred words. I am captivated by the college-like mode of learning at the College which is very different from the one in the secondary schools. The course curriculum has led me to a world of medical knowledge ranging from human anatomy, professional skills in pharmacy to the use of drugs. All these knowledge will surely be beneficial for a lifetime. The lecturers are very helpful in both academic queries and personal matters. Every bittersweet moment spent with my classmates will not fade into oblivion.

A life In the College is my first milestone of success. The coming college life will be the second. These two years of the College life has taught me that great reward comes with. Now, thanks to the College, my hopes and dreams are waiting to be fulfilled.

It is said that losers cannot enter the university. I actually was one of the losers 2 years ago. Instead of retaking HKDSE exam, I chose to study a HD programme at HPSHCC and I never regret of the decision. The programme curriculum is comprehensive for us to find our interests and orientation. Furthermore, study climate is strong among students with fantastic college life. I also attended a two-week training programme at Taichung Chungshan Medical University which was a fruitful extraordinary experience.

Despite the unsatisfactory results of my HKDSE Exam, I decided to study the HD in Medical and Health Products Management programme at HPSHCC. It was a decision that I would not regret. The programme curriculum is well designed and our lecturers are knowledgeable and caring. All of these have helped me to advance to the university study. I have also developed good friendship with my fellow students; my college life is colourful and wonderful.

I am glad to receive the Bachelor of Nursing offer from CUHK. This is not only the effort of oneself but also our lecturers. From submitting application to interview, lecturers held a lot of activities and talks for students to learn and practice hence we have confidence to face all the challenges. The programme does help prepare me to get into the university. Learning drug action and pathophysiology make me know that being a nurse should possess professional knowledge and communication skill as well. In the past 2 years, we really worked hard to prepare the tests and examinations. Every score on the transcript motivates me to be better next time. Attitude is very important in learning. Thank you my teachers and classmates.

Sometimes I wonder what I would be if I did not enroll in this Higher Diploma programme two years ago. The practical curriculum and enthusiastic lecturers have prepared me well for studying Nursing at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Last summer, I had an opportunity to work as a student intern at Caritas Medical Centre and Taichung Chung Shan Medical University Hospital which allowed me to have a better understanding of the duties of hospital nurses. The sharing of mentors also encouraged me to strive and become a professional nurse.
